Many of the temples and buildings are intricately sculpted with remarkable craftsmanship. Jaisalmer serves as the administrative capital of the Jaisalmer district. The city is named after its founder, Rao Jaisal, and “Jaisalmer” translates to “The fort on the hill of Jaisal.” Often referred to as “The Golden City” due to the golden hue the yellow sand imparts to both the city and its surroundings, Jaisalmer is a striking destination.
The city is also known for its impressive architecture, with many monuments reflecting its rich history. Jaisalmer lies close to the India-Pakistan border, adding to its historical significance.
