After a hearty breakfast, embark on a full-day sightseeing tour of Old and New Delhi. Explore the city’s iconic monuments, starting with Shanti Vana, the cremation site of Jawaharlal Nehru, and Raj Ghat, the memorial of Mahatma Gandhi. Visit the grand Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, and drive past the magnificent Red Fort and the bustling streets of Chandni Chowk.
In the afternoon, continue your tour with a visit to India Gate, the Qutub Minar, built by Qutub-ud-Din Aibak in 1199, and the stunning Humayun’s Tomb. Drive past the President’s House, Parliament House, and Connaught Place Plaza, before concluding your day at the spectacular Akshardham Temple, a modern architectural masterpiece. After a day of exploration, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
After breakfast, depart for Jaipur, a city that owes its name, foundation, and meticulous planning to the renowned warrior and astronomer, Maharaja Jai Singh II. In 1727, as Mughal power declined, Jai Singh decided to relocate from his hillside fortress in Amber to a newly planned city on the plains. Following the architectural principles outlined in the ancient Hindu treatise Shilpa Shastra, he designed Jaipur with six rectangular blocks enclosed within fortified walls.
Upon arrival, check in to your pre-booked hotel and relax for the remainder of the day. Enjoy an overnight stay at the hotel.
Spend the day in Jaipur delving into the rich history of the Royal Kachwaha Rajputs, particularly Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, one of the most celebrated rulers. He commanded a formidable trio of forts nestled in the Aravalli Hills, strategically overlooking Jaipur to maintain a watchful eye over the city.
Begin your exploration with an elephant ride to Amber Fort, followed by visits to Jaigarh Fort and Nahargarh Fort, each boasting magnificent palaces, temples, and lush gardens. Later, immerse yourself in the vibrant local markets of Jaipur, where you can shop for junk jewelry, colorful attire, and unique souvenirs.
Return to your hotel for a relaxing overnight stay.
Early in the morning, after a hearty breakfast, embark on a scenic drive to Agra. En route, visit Fatehpur Sikri, one of the best-preserved Mughal palace cities, built by Emperor Akbar around 1570. Showcasing exquisite craftsmanship, the city was a marvel of its time but was later abandoned after about fourteen years, reportedly due to water shortages.
After exploring Fatehpur Sikri, continue your journey to Agra. Upon arrival, check in to your hotel and relax. Overnight stay in Agra.
After breakfast, embark on a city tour of Agra, beginning with the majestic Agra Fort, built by Emperor Akbar in 1565 and later expanded by his grandson, Shah Jahan. The fort houses several architectural marvels, including the Hall of Public and Private Audiences.
Next, visit the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, built by Nur Jahan between 1622 and 1628. This exquisite marble mausoleum, often referred to as the “Baby Taj,” bears a striking resemblance to the tomb she later built for her husband, Emperor Jahangir, in Lahore, Pakistan.
Later, experience the breathtaking beauty of the Taj Mahal, the iconic symbol of love, built by Shah Jahan in memory of his beloved wife, Mumtaz Mahal. Construction of this magnificent white marble mausoleum began in 1631 and was completed in 1653.
In the afternoon, depart for Gwalior. Upon arrival, check in to your pre-booked hotel. Overnight stay in Gwalior.
After breakfast, embark on a sightseeing tour of Gwalior Fort, a magnificent stronghold once described by Mughal Emperor Babur as “the pearl among fortresses in India.” Spanning an area of three square kilometers, the fort is surrounded by imposing sandstone walls and houses three temples, six palaces, and several water tanks.
Explore the Teli-ka-Mandir, a 9th-century Dravidian-style shrine renowned for its intricately sculpted exterior. Visit the Saas-Bahu Temples, two adjacent pillared temples, one larger than the other, showcasing stunning architectural brilliance. Stop by Chaturbhuj Mandir, a Vaishnavite shrine from the 9th century, reflecting the artistic grandeur of the era.
Next, visit the Man Singh Palace, built by Raja Man Singh in the 15th century. This stunning structure, adorned with vibrant tile work and intricate designs, holds a dark history—Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb imprisoned and later executed his brother Murad within its walls.
A significant historical site within the fort is Jauhar Kund, where the queens and women of the harem committed mass self-immolation in 1232 following the defeat of the King of Gwalior.
