Bandhavgarh National Park, once the hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Rewa, is also renowned as the natural habitat of the rare White Tiger. These majestic creatures, now a major attraction in zoos worldwide, were first discovered in Rewa, not far from here. Bandhavgarh is considered one of the finest national parks in India and is known for having the highest density of tigers per unit area of forest. The park spans an area of 448 sq km, with a core area of 105 sq km. At its center stands Bandhavgarh Hill, rising 811 meters above sea level, surrounded by sloping valleys that lead to small, marshy meadows locally known as “bohera.”

Declared a national park in 1968, Bandhavgarh has since undergone numerous conservation efforts to preserve its natural ecosystem. The park is home to a diverse range of wildlife, including gaur (Indian bison), sloth bear (Melursus ursinus), leopard, porcupine, wild boar, sambar, and spotted deer, with the majestic tiger reigning as the star attraction.

After breakfast in the morning, set out on a scenic drive to Kanha National Park, a journey of approximately 6 hours that takes you to the heart of Kipling’s country—one of India’s most remarkable wildlife reserves. Nestled between two main valleys, Halon in the east and Banjar in the west, Kanha is home to vast grassy ‘maidans’ dotted with clusters of forest, providing a thriving habitat for large populations of herbivores. The surrounding hills feature expansive plateaus, locally known as ‘Dadars,’ characterized by open grasslands and sparse tree cover.

Upon arrival at the park, check in at your wildlife resort and enjoy a relaxing overnight stay at the hotel or resort.

Experience an exciting jungle safari in the morning and afternoon, exploring Kanha National Park and observing its rich wildlife. After a day of adventure, relax and enjoy an overnight stay at your hotel or resort.

Kanha is the only habitat of the rare hard ground barasingha (Cervus Duvauceli Branderi). In the 1930s, the Kanha region was divided into two sanctuaries—Halon and Banjar—spanning 250 sq km and 300 sq km, respectively. Although one of these was later disbanded, the area remained protected until 1947. Due to the alarming decline in the tiger population in the following years, the region was declared a complete sanctuary in 1952 to ensure the conservation of its diverse wildlife.

Enjoy an exciting jungle safari in the morning and afternoon to explore Kanha’s rich wildlife. Stay overnight at your hotel or resort. The park is home to diverse species, including tigers, leopards, bison, gaur, sambar, barasingha, blackbuck, hyenas, jackals, and many more.
