Once the hunting grounds of the Maharaja of Rewa, Bandhavgarh is also renowned as the original habitat of the famous white tigers, which were first discovered here before becoming a global attraction in zoos. The park, covering an area of 448 km² with a core zone of 105 km², boasts the highest concentration of tigers per unit area in India, making it one of the best wildlife reserves in the country.
At the heart of the park lies Bandhavgarh Hill, rising 811 metres above sea level, surrounded by gently sloping valleys that end in small swampy meadows known as “boheras.”
Declared a national park in 1968, Bandhavgarh has been a key site for wildlife conservation, preserving a diverse range of species, including gaur (Indian bison), sloth bear (Melursus ursinus), leopards, porcupines, wild boars, sambar deer, spotted deer, and, of course, the majestic tiger.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, depart for Kanha National Park, a remarkable nature reserve often referred to as Kipling country. The journey takes approximately 6 hours by road. Kanha is spread across two main valleys — Halon in the east and Banjar in the west. The park’s lush grasslands, surrounded by dense forests, provide a thriving habitat for numerous herbivores. The hills feature large plateaus, locally known as “Dadars,” characterized by vast meadows with sparse tree cover.
Upon arrival at Kanha, check in at the resort and enjoy a restful overnight stay at the hotel or resort.

Kanha is one of the few remaining habitats of the rare barasingha (Cervus Duvauceli Branderi). In the 1930s, the region was divided into two sanctuaries — Hallon (250 km²) and Banjar (300 km²). Although one sanctuary was later dissolved, the area remained protected until 1947. However, due to the declining tiger population, Kanha was declared a fully protected sanctuary in 1952.
